Athlete R Not Suposed To Smoke Tobacco, But I Saw Picture Of Soccer Players Smoking. How Does It Affect Them?

I know many famous soccer players that smoke like Zidane, Platini, Efenburg…how come smoking did not effect their performance on the pitch as professional sportsmen? we all heard about the bad things smoking can do to the human body, but these guys seem to defy this logic and be professional athletes and smokers at the same time.
how can they do it?
It will catch up with them.
Because they train and keep fit all week. It’s not like smoking just suddenly stops you being able to run. It’s only small part of what affects their overall health.
