Pele!! His name stretches across many decades as being known as the best. If you want current players…..Lionel Messi, Ronaldinho, Zinedine Zidane, Ronaldo, Christiano Ronaldo, and Kaka have all been named FIFA’s player of the year. Zidane and Ronaldo (Not Christiano) have won the award 3 times which is the most by any one player. The award for FIFA player of the year didn’t start until the 1990′s so that’s why you don’t see Pele’s name.

Without a doubt, it has to be Pele. He has won 3 world cups with Brazil and is recognized as one of the best, if not the best, players to play the game of football. He backs up his popularity with skill and championship performances. No other notable player can say they are as strong a celebrity as he is a player.
